"PIECE BY PIECE" - MINI-REVIEW
Genuine and generous, innovative and imaginative, director Morgan Neville’s new (mostly*) family-friendly documentary PIECE BY PIECE puts an effervescent spin on the portrait of an artist with this eye-popping, bass-thumping celebraton of not just the creative spirit, but the human spirit. Just like Neville’s previous doc WON’T YOU BE MY NEIGHBOR?, it’ll put a smile on your heart, and maybe even a few tears in your eyes. And just like a Pharrell Williams beat, it’s buoyant, bouncy, impossibly catchy, and fun.
*Parents of younger children should be warned, however: Despite its PG rating, it’s *A* LEGO movie and not *THE* LEGO MOVIE (and for the most part they do a great job at making the subject/music genre age-appropriate), and there are a few choice words you won’t be ready for your younger children to hear.
