THE THING I LOVE MOST

I love movies and I love life.

My formative years in rural Minnesota taught me to pay attention to the beauty and the mystery of the natural world.

My teen years working in a video store taught me to pay attention to movies and the broad range of ways their stories can be told.

My acting training in New York City taught me to immerse myself in the immensity of urban life and to see people unlike me, with experiences unlike mine.

My discovery of screenwriting taught me how to explore an idea in its fullness, and to translate that idea into something that could move people on a universal level.

My devotion to the craft of filmmaking taught me, and teaches me still, not only how to use a camera but how to see with a camera. Not only how to edit but how to live with the time between edits. Not only how to record and design sound but to feel what sounds can do.

I get to do what I love most. It makes me grateful. It makes me happy. It makes me sane. It makes me want to do it more.

But what I do is only one aspect of any project. This is where you come in.
